Officers
President Jeryldene Wood (2011) is Associate Professor of Art History at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she teaches courses on Italian Renaissance art and on women and the visual arts. Her research interests focus on women, art, and culture in Italy from the late medieval era to the mid sixteenth century.
Vice President Kirstin Noreen (2011) is Associate Professor of Art History at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. A specialist in medieval art, she has recently published on the Roman church of Sant’Urbano alla Caffarella, the ritual use of icons, and the revival of Early Christian and medieval art in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Her current research integrates her interest in Italian medieval and Baroque art by examining the visualization and replication of sanctity during the period of the Counter-Reformation as expressed in the popular resurgence of medieval cult images.
Treasurer Areli Marina (2012) is Assistant Professor of Architectural History in the School of Architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her research focuses on the intersection of public rhetoric, national identity, and civic art production, particularly in relation to the semiotics of architecture and urban form; the problematic historiography of the Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance styles; and the role of antiquity in medieval and Renaissance art and architecture, with particular emphasis on northern Italy. She is writing a book on medieval baptisteries.
Secretary & Membership Coordinator Catherine McCurrach (2012) is Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Art and Art History at Wayne State University in Detroit. A scholar of the art and architecture of medieval Rome, she has written most recently on the cult of Saint Benedict from the early Middle Ages to the Counter-Reformation, and on the legacy of Richard Krautheimer.
