The Getty Foundation offers a number of Residential Grants and Fellowships at the Getty Research Institute, including Getty Scholar Grants and Library Research Grants. The 2014-2015 academic year residential grants and fellowships will focus on the theme “Object – Value – Canon,” which aims to explore methods of art-historical interpretation, shifting from the traditional processes and terminology to a variety of new strategies. Object, value, and canon have different significances in other historical and social contexts. A more diverse integration of understudied visual and archaeological objects necessitates a reassessment of the traditional approach in order to enrich the understanding of the world’s artistic heritage. Scholars working on a wide range of topics are invited to submit proposals that engage these challenges and address their impacts in an international and interdisciplinary environment. Detailed instructions are available online. Please address inquiries via email. Deadline: 1 November 2013.
