Support the Italian Art Society

Make a Donation

As a non-profit organization, the IAS welcomes donations from individuals and organizations wishing to promote the study of the visual arts and architecture of Italy, from antiquity to the present.  Funds help support IAS annual operations, including travel grants for graduate students and emerging scholars who are presenting conference papers, and a lecture series that fosters exchange between the North American and Italian scholarly communities.

The IAS welcomes general operating contributions and is also happy to work with donors to direct contributions toward specific purposes, including travel grant support and/or the establishment of research or publication funds. All contributions beyond the level of annual dues are tax deductible.

As with the Neapolitan tradition of a caffè sospeso, our Sospeso Memberships are an opportunity to support our community by offering one-year gift memberships to scholars wishing to join our community, but lacking the means at this time.
To make a donation of a studente– or pensionato-level Sospeso Membership for $20, please click here.
To make a donation of a socio-level Sospeso Membership $35, please click here.

Support for the IAS

Grazie! The Samuel H. Kress Foundation generously supports annual lectures in Italy and travel grants for scholars living outside North America to participate in IAS-sponsored sessions at conferences in the United States and Canada.

Support for the Dorothy F. Glass ICMS Travel Award

The Italian Art Society is pleased to announce the creation of a new award honoring the career of Professor Dorothy F. Glass. Many of us in the IAS know Dorothy’s work and her important contributions to the field of Italian medieval sculpture. Trained at Vassar (B.A.) and Johns Hopkins (Ph.D.), she established her reputation as a formidable teacher and scholar at SUNY Buffalo.

The Dorothy F. Glass Travel Award will support a scholar to attend the International Congress on Medieval Studies at Kalamazoo starting with the next in-person meeting scheduled for 2023. Preference will be given to emerging scholars of sculpture and/or those coming from Italy. It is our hope to grant the Dorothy F. Glass Travel Award in perpetuity through the establishment of a self-sustaining endowment and to that end we seek your support. All donations are tax-deductible.

Your contribution can be made via credit card or via PayPal by using the following clickable link.

Alternatively, checks can be made out to “Italian Art Society” (please add “Dorothy Glass” to the Memo line!) Contact our treasurer, Lucia Colombari, for mailing address.
